Urban Adjuncts Moderate Mayoral Candidate Panels

Two of our star adjuncts have been asked to moderate panels of mayoral candidates!

Errol Louis will be moderating one forum on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 7pm to 8:30pm at Central Synagogue, Lexington Ave. at 55th Street. He will moderate a second forum on Tuesday, March 19th from 7pm to 8:30pm at First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens. Students who wish to attend must register as press.

On behalf of Crain’s New York Business, Greg David will be moderating the first mayoral debate of Republican candidates on March 6th at The Roosevelt Hotel. Greg says there is room for Urban Reporting students at the press table, but you need to let them know.

Errol Louis to be honored on Feb 1.

Our much-loved adjunct, Errol Louis is being honored as a “Black Legend and Trailblazer” by McDonald’s as part of its celebration of Black History Month. Never one to boast, Errol says he and the other honorees, who include Sue Simmons, will have “our pictures on walls and placemats in 600 area restaurants.”

Greg David Scores Again

More than 200 people packed the Yale Club this morning for an event hosted by Crain’s New York Business. But before the panel got started, our very own Greg got several shout-outs, including one from Deputy Mayor Robert Steel. The panel focused on the controversial proposal by the Bloomberg administration to “up-zone” the east side of midtown Manhattan. In addition to Steel, Steven Spinola represented the Real Estate Board of NY, Dan Garodnick voiced his concerns as a City Council member, and Lawrence Graham shared the perspective of St. Bartholomews’s Episcopal Church, which would be affected by the proposed re-zoning.

Get used to hearing about this topic – it’s a hot one in real estate and planning circles and we’ll be devoting an entire class to it later this semester.
